FOXLEY VILLAGE HALL

FOXLEY BOWLS CLUB

We held bowling sessions in Foxley Village Hall for 6 weeks during the school summer holidays for local teenagers. As well as Foxley residents we were delighted to welcome some from Bawdeswell over the period. We had very enjoyable sessions, appreciated by both bowlers and members of our Bowls Club who assisted. On the last Friday we held a competition and played for a cup kindly donated by one of our members Mrs Rene Kent.  The winner was Callum Brett and the runner up Tom Webb. Congratulations to both.  The cup and medals were presented by our club captain, Robert Dewing.

The teenagers now return to education, either to school or to college and we wish them well for the coming year.  We look forward to enjoying bowling activities with them, and any others who may be interested, next summer.

FOXLEY VILLAGE HALL HOG ROAST
On Saturday 20th August 2005 Foxley Village Hall Committee held a Hog Roast in aid of the hall's extension fund. 'Top of the Bill' for the entertainment was Keith Skipper, Norfolk's own very humorous raconteur.
The turnout was gratifyingly keen; the hall being packed to its licensed capacity. The Hog Roast, supplied by Messrs C.R. Lake of Fakenham, was at its usual succulent best; and with the additional dishes and puddings to choose from, even those who eschew the very mention of the word 'dieting' could find no cause to complain.
After the splendid repast, we all sat back (with a glass of our favourite 'medicine') and listened to Keith Skipper telling us anecdotes and recollections from his and Norfolk's very special past. That wonderful, gentle but pithy, Norfolk humour never fails to create laughter whenever it is recounted, especially by a master such as Keith.
The evening wound down with the usual intermingling of groups and families engaging in good hearted banter and laughter - a typical end to a village gathering in fact. Ruth Whitmore, the Chair of the Village Hall Committee, gave thanks to her committee and to the volunteers who had helped to make the evening such a success. £300.00 was raised towards the Extension Fund. A very satisfying result we all thought!
