ALL SAINTS CHURCH, BAWDESWELL

We had two baptisms in August –

14 AUG  Jack Ross Johnson

21 AUG  Kyle James Crisp   - happy occasions both.

The  10 o’clock fixed service time for Sundays seems to be working well.  It is certainly a lot easier to remember!  We have had encouraging numbers all month.

Thank you all on the flower and cleaning rotas for the work you have put in, especially those who cleared up after the electricians had finished.  We have enjoyed the bright flowers, and at the time of writing are awaiting one of our annual festivals – the decoration of the church for our Harvest Thanksgiving.

The Norfolk Church’s Sponsored Cycle Ride was very unlucky with the weather this year (it poured most of the day) and visitors to our church were down on previous years.  Nobody cycled for Bawdeswell but thanks are due to all those who took it in turn to man the church all day to sign in the visiting riders.

The final bill for the rewiring of the church came to a staggering £16,700 which has been paid off by donations from the Friends of Bawdeswell Church, individuals, PCC funds and a loan of £6,700 which we have to repay in the next few years.  Your continued support of the very professional events which the Friends run for us will help us to achieve this.  Thank you for your help so far.

There is to be a Christmas Flower demonstration in the church by Nick Grounds the Wisbech Auctioneer on Friday 18th November. Full details are on page 8 of this magazine.

Starting on Sunday 20th November come to the GiG at 10 o’clock in the church – aimed at families of all ages – every third Sunday of the month.  Half an hour of music, a few prayers, a thought for the day from the Rector, and coffee and biscuits.

The popular Family Christmas Concert is on the afternoon of Sunday December 11th
Our Carol service this year is on Sunday 18th December and we are hoping very much that the Benefice Choir will join us.  So it should be a rousing occasion.
