There were three things to celebrate (at least) at our Harvest Festival service this year: God’s gift of the crops, fruit, vegetables, flowers, of course, but also the fruit of the labours of Monica Hatch and her wonderful embroiderers, who have made a splendid job of our new kneelers, and the expert craftsmanship of Joe Dawes and Jenny Knights who have renovated our pews and woodwork. Much to be thankful for!
The Rector, the Rev. David Head took the service, John Fletcher played the organ, we sat in the nave (on secure pews!) and sang heartily. Mary Fletcher read John Keats’ “Ode to Autumn”; the flower arrangements and baskets of produce illustrated the wonders of God’s creation better, even, than words could.
The PCC would like to thank all involved in the Kneeler Project, sponsors as well as embroiderers, particularly Monica Hatch who organised it all and we mustn’t forget, either, Robin Taylor, who in some miraculous way, transformed our ideas into patterns for the workers to follow. Thanks are due, also, to John Driver who took numerous pictures of the decayed woodwork to enable us to obtain grants for the repairs and to Dena Framingham for wielding the duster and polish so that our church was clean and welcoming and smelt gently of beeswax.

Church Kneelers
I should like to thank everyone who has supported the new kneelers project for St. Thomas'.
It has been a great success due to the skills and much hard work of all involved, from Foxley, Bawdeswell and other friends too. Some have helped with the designs, others worked on the tapestries giving a great deal of their expertise and many, many hours of their time, while others contributed by their generous sponsorship and donations.
All these contributions have been invaluable and all of this, in just two and a half years, has resulted in some beautiful and colourful additions to the church.
Soon after our arrival in Foxley in 2001, I was asked to help with making the new kneelers, which were  needed!  It has been very good to experience the help and enthusiasm of all who have taken part. It has involved a lot of work for many and it has been fun too!
