Tourist News

Sunday the 2nd April saw the return to Foxley of the Whitmores, Ruth and Gordon.  Every year, for some inexplicable reason, they decide to forego this English winter and head for the sunnier climes of South Africa.  They departed these shores on the 10th January heading for Capetown; and from then on did a slow tour of the major cities such as Johannesburg and Durban, and of course the smaller towns with their native culture and crafts.  This year they made a point of visiting the historic battle sites of the Boer War, and the Zulu Wars which they found so deeply interesting and moving that they have now become involved in their own research, collecting recorded lectures and photographs in the process.  Foxley Social Club hope to be the beneficiary of this interesting subject as they intend to persuade Ruth to give a talk about her travels, along with a showing of her films.

Foxley particularly welcome back the Whitmores because they are both extremely involved in all things relating to the village.  Village Hall, Social Club, Open Gardens Day, the Church, Bowls Club: the Whitmores figure strongly in all of these, and their enthusiasm and guidance is much appreciated.  We are all pleased to see them back looking hale and hearty for another year!
