REEPHAM AND DISTRICT ROTARY CLUB

The club had a very successful Old Time Music Hall event at the Reepham High School.

A full house was entertained by the group from Sussex and nearly £3000 was raised for Rotary charities.

The Rotarians sang two numbers and, as usual, despite all the practicing they all forgot their words!

The project at Whitwell Hall to build the 'Rotary Millennium loo' is well underway with work continuing throughout April. Members are at present trying to drum up sponsorship for the next fund raising event which is a sponsored cycle ride.

  BECK WOMENS INSTITUTE

Thirteen members were present at the April meeting. Aleathia took a vote on the Annual Accounts and then said that as our speaker was unable to come, we would have the Resolutions which were scheduled for next month.

There were 2 Resolutions. These concern (1) Farm Gate Milk Prices. Urge the Government to raise public awareness of the unfair difference between the retail price of milk and the price paid to the farmer and (2) Care of the Environment. Urge the Government to take further action to reduce packaging of all public consumer goods. Majority vote in favour in both cases.

Ruth Clarke presented us with a most interesting Floral Quiz - the winner being Sheila. It was then time for the jokes brought in by members to be enjoyed by all present; a very amusing few minutes.

Interest was shown in the hyacinth bulbs - with Margaret Peachment 1st, Audrey 2nd. The raffle was won by Jennifer.

At our meeting next month - Monday May 9th - it is possible that we will have one of the speakers unable to come to a previous meeting. Come to Sparham's Old School Room at 7.30 p.m. for a surprise speaker.
