BAWDESWELL PARISH COUNCIL ELECTIONS
WILL TAKE PLACE ON THURSDAY 3RD MAY 2007
ALL EXISTING COUNCILLORS HAVE TO STAND FOR RE-ELECTION. WE URGENTLY NEED NEW COUNCILLORS AS SEVERAL OF THE EXISTING COUNCILLORS WILL NOT BE STANDING THIS TIME ROUND. WE WOULD WELCOME APPLICATIONS FROM ANY PARISHIONER WHO WISHES TO APPLY. THE PARISH CLERK SHOULD HAVE FORMS BY THE END OF FEBRUARY (6 Hall Road tel. 688234) OR THEY CAN BE OBTAINED FROM BRECKLAND COUNCIL OFFICES,
BEING A PARISH COUNCILLOR ENTAILS ATTENDING A MEETING ONCE A MONTH (no meeting in August or January) WHICH LASTS ABOUT 2 HOURS AND HELPING MAKE DECISIONS ON PLANNING APPLICATIONS, THE WAY PRECEPT MONEY IS SPENT, FUTURE IMPROVEMENTS IN THE VILLAGE ETC. THIS AFFECTS EVERYONE IN BAWDESWELL. BAWDESWELL PARISH COUNCIL HAS 7 COUNCILLORS BUT MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF 4. IF WE DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH PEOPLE TO FORM A PARISH COUNCIL BRECKLAND CAN TAKE OVER THE RESPONSIBILITY – DECISIONS WILL THEN BE OUT OF PARISHIONERS HANDS - PLEASE, PLEASE MAKE AN EFFORT TO GET INVOLVED BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE AND BAWDESWELL LOSES ITS PARISH COUNCIL.
Contact the Parish Clerk for more details.
Note: If 7 or fewer nominations for Parish Councillors are received then there will not be an election and those nominated will automatically become councillors. If there are less than 7 Councillors then others may be co-opted on to the council to make up the number required. If there are less than 4 then we lose the Parish Council!!!!!
