ST THOMAS CHURCH, FOXLEY The
Annual Vestry and Parochial Meetings were held in the church on Tuesday 19th
April 2005 and the Reverend David Head was in the Chair. Elections
were held and the office holders remain the same. The
Rector presented his annual report on activities in the benefice and in
respect of Foxley he mentioned the “..gratifying amounts being given to
charities” and his satisfaction that the electrical re-wiring had been
completed. In addition he
thanked all involved for keeping the church “..feeling happy and loved.” The
Secretary’s report detailed discussions during the six meetings held and
activities during 2004.
Treasurer, John Harvey described St. Thomas’ accounts as healthy but
expressed concern at the 45% increase in Parish Share for the forthcoming
year. Turning to Fabric matters
Mr Harvey had been encouraged that progress was being made with renovations;
the electrical work and woodwork repairs could be paid for through our own
givings and grants from the Council for the Care of Churches and Norfolk
Churches Trust. However, other
necessary renovations, indicated as necessary by our architect, would inevitably
prove expensive. The P.C.C.
had been grateful to Mrs Jenny Burlingham for mending the altar frontal and
to Mrs Nan Garrod for presenting a silver salver which would be used in
conjunction with a turned oak alms dish, made by Mr Nigel White and given to
the church. Mrs
Hatch reported that the Hassocks campaign was going along splendidly and it
was hoped to dedicate them at Harvest Thanksgiving. In his
role as Church Warden, John Harvey re-iterated the Rector’s thanks to all who
helped at services and in the maintenance of the church. Diana HarveySecretary,
