All Saints Church, Bawdeswell

International School Concert

On the evening of 24th May there was a concert in the church given by the pupils of Bawdeswell School and their guests from St Paulusschool, Utrecht in Holland.

Sadly we missed it because of a previously arranged PCC meeting, but Marietta Menzies, who is also a school governor, sent her apologies to our meeting and looked after them. Thank you, Marietta.

It is reported that the church was packed and everyone joined in and made it a very successful evening.

GiG Service

On Rogation Sunday our theme centered on the wonder and miracle of nature in providing us with food to live.  We prayed for the crops sown and the farmers and their families and all associated with agriculture.  The children planted sunflower seeds in pots which they can watch growing over the next few months.

Wedding

Congratulations to Daniel Beamis and Sarah Ellis from Two Fields Way who got married in the church on Saturday 27th May.

What started off as a rainy day brightened up in time for the wedding photographs and it was a very happy occasion for all involved.  The Revd David Head, Rector, conducted the service and the organist was  James Lillwall.

Service Pattern

Our fixed service pattern of 10am every Sunday has been working very well and attendance is on the increase.  But it is causing a problem on the first Sunday of the month when the Rector has to get from a long  9am service at Lyng to Bawdeswell for 10.  We are reluctant to change the time again, but if we swapped this service to the second Sunday of the month, it would  be following a short 9am service at Sparham, and that would make it far easier for the Rector to get here on time. It is not fair that he should have to rush away at the end of any service and not stop and talk to people.

The plan would result in our Words & Praise service, which we run without a priest, moving to the first Sunday of the month.

We will be discussing this possible change at the next PCC meeting so please make your feelings known to anyone in the PCC if it wont suit you.     RT
