PARISH COUNCIL – EXTRACTS OF MEETING HELD ON MONDAY 6TH JUNE 2005

inviting Chief Superintendent Alan Hayes to PC meeting. -
Rural
Transport – meeting to be held on Monday 18th July at 7pm at
Elsing Village Hall to discuss circular bus route. Billingford to be invited to attend. 2 people from NCC to attend together
with Mark Broughton(Breckland) and Adam Bradley(Rural Transport Partnership).
- Letter received
from Gilbert Addison (Breckland Tree & Countryside Officer) regarding
Tree work to be carried out on trees around All Saints Church stating they
must be carried out with good arboricultural practise – consent valid 2
years.. Planning: -

Court. Land Management Officer looked at site and valued it – matter to be

Bar, The Street – letter sent to King’s Lynn Solicitors stating that PC would
like new applicants to comply with Breckland PP conditions on noise and
Parking -
NCC to be
contacted regarding Deer signs(along Reepham Road)/20mph speed limit/new road
narrow/slow signs in The Street promised one year ago. Also pot holes in Paradise Road
and near Old Rectory and flooding outside Virginia House. RoSPA inspection completed
on Play equipment. Next meeting Monday 4th
July at 7.30pm in the Village Hall. At the Annual Parish
meeting held on Monday 9th May the Clerk gave a resume of the Parish Councils
work during the year. “It had been another busy
year. The PC were very grateful
for the help received from Chief Superintendent Alan Hayes in solving
problems in the village ie drugs and look forward to welcoming him back at a
later PC meeting for an update. -The Village Appraisal has
now been completed and a Parish Plan produced. A new Village Development Committee (Project Bawdeswell)
has been formed with Councillor Lilwall as Chairman to obtain funding for various projects. 13 members are on the Committee
and they have been attending various meetings with Breckland officials and
visiting other Villages who have completed their Plans. A new HSBC
Bank account opened for
the Village Dev.Project with £500 from the Village Hall (£500 premium bond
cashed in and money put into account). -A new Village Handyman
has been appointed – Graham Swain – and he has been kept busy putting up new
swings in the Children’s Play area – varnishing seats/notice boards-clearing
the area beside the Hall for the new Paper/Bottle Banks and generally
carrying out all manner of necessary jobs. - A Heritage Group has
been formed with Councillor McColville as the organiser and they have
produced information leaflets for the village. Meetings are well attended and the history of the area
explored. - Meeting held with Andrea
Bolton and Philip Mileham from Breckland took place in October 04 and gave us
details of the new Local Development Plan for the area. Parishioners/Councillors now have to
determine what Bawdeswell needs/wants in future. - A Ground Force team of volunteers has been formed to carry out lots of jobs in and around the area such as clearing rubbish/tidying Recreation Field/filling in holes in the roadway etc. - Last years Village Fete
went very well and it is proposed to hold another one this June - New Licensing Act in
operation for Village Hall - Tree planting along the
A1067 has now been completed. - Councillor Mallen is PC
representative on N.Elmham Patients Group - Councillor McColville is
PC representative on Bawdeswell Primary School Governors. - The PC published its
Policy on the New Freedom of Information Act - New Grounds Maintenance
Contract in operation – hopefully saving £200 - New Fire
Extinguishers/blanket purchased for Hall - Donations - £100 Bawdeswell Heath towards cost of
Public Liability insurance. £100
Reeves Tale. £20 CAB. - £2,750.31 spent on
repairs to Village Hall windows/drains/electrics/roadway/new swings play
area. -
