Bawdeswell Parochial Church Council

It was with great sadness that we heard of the death of Miss Margaret Joice.  Margaret had been churchwarden for many years and on her retirement from this  was appointed Churchwarden Emeritus by the Bishop.

Margaret was born in Bawdeswell at May Tree Farm and although her teaching career took her away to Birmingham and to America, home was always Bawdeswell.  On her retirement she became a keen member of the village Over-sixties Club and also was a Trustee of Bawdeswell Heath. She sat an advanced driving test and wore its badge on her car.

She was full of life and good humour and right up till her last illness  was determined to master her computer, at which she never gave up.

Her funeral was well attended by her family and all her friends from the village.  We would like to express our sympathy to her sister Celia at this sad time.

The Christmas services were well attended and enjoyed by all.  It was a shame that a few inebriated visitors thought that they would find it fun to disrupt the midnight Eucharist service with infantile behaviour.    Everyone is more than welcome to attend any of the services but a little respect for the church, the Rector and the congregation is not much to ask for in return.

We were almost bursting at the seams on Christmas morning.  It was a real pleasure to welcome so many to our GiG service.

Katy Ewing played a jazzy version of a well known Christmas Carol on her saxophone and David Gurney and his grandson Oliver read a tender and moving story about giving love.

Our thanks to all the ladies who contributed to the refreshments after the Carol and GiG services and  to all those who helped clear and wash up.

The electoral roll is to be renewed this year.  Please look out for details on the church notice board if you wish to be included on the roll.
