Bawdeswell Village Hall
Bawdeswell Village hall is available for hire by both
parishioners and non residents.
At present the hall is available most weekdays during the day and alternate Wednesday evenings. There are lots of Saturdays and Sundays still free. You can also hire tables and chairs for you own events. The Parish Council meet here at 7.45pm on the first Monday of the month except January & August. Where there is a Bank Holiday the meeting is a week later.
All our income is being spent on running and improving the hall. In 2006 we installed new wall cupboards and replacement cupboard doors in the kitchen, replaced the cooker and microwave oven, installed baby change facilities and purchased high chairs. An outside power supply was installed to facilitate activities on the playing field such as the annual village fete and the use of bouncy castles etc for children’s parties. Most of the emergency lighting units were replaced and the hall and equipment electrically tested. A ‘Paintathon’ was also held to redecorate. In 2007 we plan to make further improvements including making the side door the main entrance to overcome wind problems with the front door, replacement of the kitchen worktops and counter and provision of safe access to the storage area above the toilet block. We are also looking at the provision of proper disabled parking and access as well as improving the access road and car park area.
Regrettably, for the first time in several years, we have had to slightly raise the hourly hire charge for 2007 as we have had very significant increases in our utility bills, especially electricity charges. The new rates are shown below and you will see that we have introduced a discount on the hourly rate for parishioners as well as for longer hires. Other discounts are available to regular users.
Bawdeswell community groups can also use the hall on weekdays between 9am and 4pm for a nominal charge only.

Village Hall Committee
The Village Hall Committee is still struggling to keep going and desperately needs more members. There are 800 plus people in the village and just half a dozen of you could help make a big difference. We meet in the village hall at 8pm on the 3rd Monday of each month. Please come and join us !!

NEW for 2007 - Dog Training at the Village Hall
Anyone out in Bawdeswell will have noticed how many dogs reside in the village and owners who need a little help controlling their canine friend will be pleased to hear that ‘Helping Hounds School of Obedience’ training classes will commence at the village hall on Tuesday March 6th at 7pm. Basic or Advanced classes will last 6 weeks and are restricted to 6 dogs per class.
If you are interested call Louise on 07919 030504.
Louise says:- “Classes are for fully vaccinated puppies and adult dogs that are ‘friendly’; unfortunately I cannot give a place in any class for a dog who presents any anti-social or aggressive tendencies. Please understand that this is for the safety and comfort of other class members and individual classes can be arranged on a one-to-one basis for those falling into that category. Classes will take place primarily in the evening, to allow for busy work schedules, but please call me so that you can be advised of the latest times, locations and available courses. Each Basic Obedience Course runs for six weeks, and each session lasts for approximately 1 hour. I will allow no more than six dogs on a course at any one time, this allows for space and comfort for those attending and optimum attention from me as the trainer. For those who have completed the Basic obedience course with me, Advanced Classes are available in six week modules, covering a variety of further Obedience work and general fun training!”
Please note that Louise has a very strict NO Choke or Check Chain policy.
