The Reeve's Tale Magazine   February 2006

NOTICE BOARD

Bawdeswell Store
May Shirl and I, through these pages, express our thanks to the Village for its support in the last year and in particular those customers who nominated us for  Robert Wiseman Dairies’ Neighbourhood Store of the Year at the awards in Scotland in December – and to those who have since congratulated us and commented on our success in the finals.
It was very special to us as we had no idea we were entered until we reached the Final, to be awarded runner-up was a great surprise.
We would also like to pay tribute to our Staff who play a very big part in our achievements and pass on our thanks to them all.
A very happy and prosperous 2006 to all.
                                  Andy Battley

To whom it may concern
May I suggest that the persons who indicated their Seasonal feelings to us over the Christmas period by cutting our Christmas lights,  should extend their generosity into the New Year by next slashing the mains power cable that runs in front of this house, so receiving their just reward?  I regret that I am unable to offer a more direct contribution to their welfare in these socially enlightened times.
Although  not a major act of crime, it is only one incident in an increasing list of poor behaviour in The Street.
To ignore such actions without comment would be as mistaken as it is to accept the inevitable actions of a few, or to succumb to decreasing standard for the whole village.
Yours faithfully,  Alan Gillo,  Old Woods Green, Bawdeswell.

The Bawdeswell Over 60’s  Club  that used to meet at Folland Court on Thursday afternoons has been asked to move out and have transferred their meetings to All Saints Church where they have been warmly welcomed.  The meetings take place every Thursday afternoon between 2.30 and 4pm.  New members welcome.

Bintree Bowls Club are holding a Prize Bingo session at Foxley Village Hall on Saturday 4 March at 7.30pm.  There will be a raffle and prizes.  All welcome.

A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR
The Reeve’s Tale starts another year and wishes all its readers and followers on the Internet a Happy and Healthy New Year.

Many thanks to the advertisers for their continued support and the donations made by our two parish councils, local clubs, Bawdeswell Store and many individuals.
The cost of printing the magazine is now over £200 a month.

Without everyone’s help, not least the volunteers who deliver the magazine to your letter boxes, the magazine would not survive.

We now have two sub-editors  - Dennis Barrett for Foxley and David Cockburn for Bawdeswell.  Please pass your news to them, or e-mail it to reevestale@bawdeswell.net  for their attention..

I will continue to handle the advertising and general running of the magazine, and remain a contact.
The object is to widen the responsibility for producing the magazine (it has been a one-man-band for 10 years) and minimize any bias towards one village or one group .

Please continue to contact the Reeve’s Tale and send in details of any events and news or views  It remains our principal means of communicating with one another and it is important to keep going.

Thank you for your support.
Robin Taylor, Editor
