The final tally for the Village Survey was a return of 53%.

These are the main points from the survey:-

· Generally, all are happy with the Village facilities except the Village Hall and Recreation Ground.

· Bawdeswell Stores, Garden Centre and Post Office are highly thought of and have a strong need to keep.

· Generally, people like living here.

· Playground needs to be updated, made suitable for a range of children and teenagers.

· The bullying of older children in the Playground is frightening younger children.

· Some would like to see a health clinic in the village.

· A sports and social club would be well received.

· More Adult Education – Computing, Crafts and Languages come out as top.

· New activities for children and teenagers would be supported, including after school and holiday clubs.

· Transport.  There is a problem with the mature generation accessing existing facilities due to distance from homes.

· Transport – better bus service to Dereham.

· Activities – there are many activities in the surrounding area for children, teenagers and adults, just not in the village.  Getting to them is a problem for some.

As part of the requirements for an application for funding by the National Lottery the Steering Group has developed a ‘VISION’ for our village in the future.

Our community will be one for all ages, who will have the opportunity to enjoy fulfilling and content lives with caring and respect for each other through a mixture of traditional and modern values.  It will be a community where:

· People will have choices about their lives and these will be respected.

· Children and young people’s dreams and aspirations can be nurtured and supported.

· Isolation and loneliness will be unknown.

· Everyone will have the opportunity to access and enjoy the open countryside and heath land.

· Everyone can find, explore and develop wider interests with others.

· Friendship and support will be offered to one another.

· There will be facilities at the heart and centre of village life and made accessible to all.

Our community will be one where people want to live because it is energising and vibrant with opportunities and facilities for all ages.

The mission is to improve and extend the facilities to make them suitable for modern life and the all-round needs of our community now and in the future.
