FOXLEY VILLAGE HALL

Just to let you know what’s going on in your village hall ……

Committee:  Chairman, Dennis Barrett, retired in September and
Ruth Whitmore was elected Chairman in October.  Ruth, Gladys Dewing (Treasurer), Bill Potter (Secretary), and John Driver are pleased to welcome Beryl Mayes and Samantha Elmhurst to the committee.

Activities: The Committee has taken note of your comments in the Village Appraisal and has taken on some of the responsibility to provide regular activities as listed below.  It is hoped you have found something to interest your family, but if not, maybe you would like to start something else. If so, please let the committee know by contacting Gladys Dewing (688438).

Short Mat Bowls
Xtend Exercise Classes
Computer Classes (pm & eve)…Beginners upwards
Flow Yoga Classes…Dynamic Yoga (01603-866432)
Art Classes
Social Club – Active Group, Speakers & Outings

Celebration Venue: The village hall is a warm, attractive venue (so regular users say) equipped with new tables and chairs, plus all the necessary equipment to hold a family celebration party, or any other event. Please come and look around before you decide to book elsewhere. Hire Rates are very favourable!

Village Emergency:  In the event of a village emergency, the hall is the most practical building for every resident to use.

The Future:  It is clear from comments received from residents and visitors to the hall, that provision for storage of equipment is necessary. After carefully considering the many available options, the committee, on your behalf, has decided to start the process to extend at the rear of the existing hall.

The most important factor to be considered before starting this process is to obtain ideas and suggestions from local residents. If you would like more information or, would like to make suggestions to help the committee make the correct decisions, please (a) ring for chat (b) write in (no need to give a name), or (c) email. (see next page).

To successfully execute a project in a public building it is necessary for the Committee to adhere to stringent regulations laid down by grant organisations, and

the Local District Council. An architect has to be employed to obtain planning permission and building regulations and the committee has to raise funds and prove financial competence.

Dates and Events to raise funds and enjoy ourselves:

Sun 19th June Open Gardens (see February issue of Reeve’s Tale for more information)

Sun 19th June Launch of VH “Buy-a-Brick Scheme”

Sat 20th August Hog Roast with Entertainer

Fri 14th October Ascot Race Night & Supper

Finally

The Committee would really appreciate your comments so please (a) ring Ruth on 688768, (b) write to Ruth at Old Hall Farmhouse (no name needed) or, (c) email: ruthwhitmore@onetel.com

Many thanks for your help.

WASTE PAPER BANK

Would like to encourage all Foxley residents to use the waste paper bank outside the village hall. The money collected from the regular emptying of this bank is used for the continual improvement and maintenance of the hall.
