Mrs Hilda Bond was our speaker on 11th July. She has been a WI member for over 30 years and obviously enjoys demonstrating her art to the various branches.
Heading her subject "Cookery", Hilda showed us how to make five mouth-watering sweets using Summer fruits mixed with cream, fromage frais or Greek yoghurt. With the finished sweets beautifully presented, Hilda invited us to taste them all. This we willingly did and all agreed they tasted even better than they looked.
Hilda was then asked to judge the Unusual Sandwiches brought in by members. 1st - Jennifer. She used a filling of tinned mackerel and tomato sauce, with horseradish and cucumber. 2nd - Margaret. Her sandwich was filled with pilchards and cream cheese with a dash of HP sauce.
Margaret won the raffle. Aleathia reminded us of the invitation to visit WI House in Norwich any day from 13th to 21st August, 10 a.m. to 3.30 p.m.
At our next meeting on Monday 8th August, the talk is entitled "Decline of Wool and Rise of Silk" and we are asked to bring 'something silk'. Hope to see you. 7.30 p.m. in Sparham's Old School Room.
