Reepham and District Rotary
The club is helping to sponsor a young handicapped lady from Cawston who is taking a trip with the Jubilee Sailing Trust. Her mentor will be Jo Tim, wife of Rotarian John.
The club is also intending to sponsor a new medical response unit that is being set up in Reepham. A member from the Aylsham group gave a talk about their work and how they help to save lives before ambulance teams arrive. The club are intending to buy part of the kit they will need before they can commence their work.
The club are now organizing the next fund raising event which is to be held at the Noverre Suite at The Assembly House Norwich. We are holding a Gala Charity film night. This will include a champagne reception and a 1951 classic movie ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’ staring Vivienne Leigh and Marlon Brando. It will be a black tie event and tickets are £12.50. This will be in aid of East Anglian Children’s Hospice and other Rotary Charities.

Aleathia opened our meeting on 12th March and welcomed our Speaker, Russell Eden.
Russell's talk was entitled Overcoming Adversities. Introducing himself as a recovering stammerer, Russell told us of his struggle to overcome this terrible handicap. Handicap it certainly was and listening to his confident and fluent use of words, we found it hard to reconcile this enthusiastic and talkative man, with the frightened and worried youngster he had been.
He explained that he had been taught how to use his voice and breathing, and he was now happy to say he was teaching other stammerers. He had also been accepted as a Toastmaster and had joined the Special Police Force. A most interesting talk.
After our tea/coffee break, Russell looked at the Mothering Sunday cards made by members. The winner was Audrey; 2nd Ruth. Zillah won the raffle.
Our next meeting is on Monday 16th April when our speaker is Rosalind Teague with the subject - Teaching in Prison. We meet in the Old School Room at 7.30 p.m. and are asked to bring a painted egg for the exhibition.
