enhancing our community
At the meeting on 10 March the Steering Group welcomed Paul Digby from Bawdeswell Bowls Club. The current status of the club, how it fits into the project and the possibility of a youth section were discussed.
Alex Kirby reported on the successful first meeting of the Building and Access Sub Group. A Development Functionality Chart has been produced and was refined at the meeting following discussion. The target is to have a brief prepared for the Architect by the end of March and some detailed plans produced by June, following discussions with Breckland re planning permission issues in between.
Graham Swain is taking the Children’s Play area sub-group forward and is talking to appropriate people at Breckland Council. He is working hard to have a funding application ready by May. Requirements for a tennis court are being investigated.
The Activities sub-group is being formed and their first meeting is to be arranged for early April so that they can report back to the Steering Group at the next meeting.
Additional members are being sought for the Playing Field sub-group whose first priority will be arranging the proper draining of the field. A survey of the field is being carried out and quotations are to be obtained.
Committee members are to liaise with the Heath Trustees before the Bawdeswell Heath sub-group progresses further.
Funding options are being investigated but timescales are tight. The National Lottery ‘Big Fund’, The Sports Council, Sports England East and Defra are current funding options. More local fundraising is required.
The secretary has written to all those who offered help on the survey form and is starting to get some positive replies. She has also written to The Friends of Bawdeswell School and spoken to the teacher responsible for PE at the school about help for children’s sport and outdoor activities.
The next meeting of the Steering Group is on Saturday 21st April at 10am in the Village Hall. ALL villagers are welcome to attend.
