ST.THOMAS’ CHURCH, FOXLEY
The P.C.C. met recently, having been dismayed to hear that a valuable stained glass window had been damaged in an act of wanton vandalism, apparently by someone, probably a young man, in a moment of alcohol- fuelled stupidity.
We now face a very considerable bill for the restoration of this beautiful early Victorian work of art. There may also be a lengthy wait before the repair can be done. So sad and so unnecessary! Particularly sad too, because this window was restored in 1987 by the family of Martin Chase, Churchwarden until his sudden death, and a stalwart of our church. In addition, this expense will delay our plans to renovate the porch and chancel.
On a positive note, however, we were delighted to hear of John and Mary Fletcher’s plans to open their extensive and interesting garden at Street Farm on a monthly basis to help pay for the window repairs and our restoration project. The possibility of exploring the garden and its progress through the summer is already being greeted with enthusiasm by garden lovers. The church will be open to attract the many that enjoy old churches and their history.
Opening Time: -The first Tuesday each month from May to September 11am to 5pm.

THE CHILDREN’S SOCIETY
Now that we have completed 15 years of fund-raising for the Society, first in Foxley and Bawdeswell and then in the united FLEBBS benefice, we are planning a special service in Bawdeswell church on Sunday 29th.April at 10am.
Peter Neale, the Community Fundraising Manager, is coming to give the sermon and tell us more about the work of The Society. We hope that all our supporters and those with childrens’ welfare at heart will attend in order to celebrate what we have achieved and be inspired to even greater efforts in the future.
