ALL
SAINTS CHURCH, BAWDESWELL
We were very pleased to host a Confirmation and Adult
Baptism Service in the church on the evening of 23rd February.
There were five candidates and the Bishop of Lynn, the
Rt Revd James Langstaff
conducted the service.
Thanks to all who came in support and to the benefice
Choir who sang for us and made it such a memorable occasion.
On Easter Sunday we plan an Easter GiG Service with Easter eggs and egg painting two of
the attractions there. 10am Easter Sunday. Don’t miss it!
At a PCC meeting on 27th February William
Mason was co-opted on to the PCC.
The continued help of the Friends of the Church was
acknowledged in maintaining the church fabric and paying the electricity and
water bills and insurance.
They have also agreed to purchase some folding tables
for the use of the Thursday Over Sixties Club and
other events in the church.
The Annual Vestry Meeting followed by the AGM is to
be on Monday 24th April at 8pm in the church. The AGM is an
open meeting and anyone is welcome to attend.
The purpose of the Vestry Meeting is to elect
churchwardens for the coming year. There are two candidates at the
moment, Robin Taylor and William Mason. David Gurney is standing down after 10
years in the post, for which we warmly thank him. Any parishioner may
stand. They need put their names in writing to the Rector with a proposer and seconder before the meeting.
Prior to the AGM we will need to update the Church
Electoral Roll. It is a requirement that candidates for election to the
PCC be on the roll, but it is not helpful to be on the roll if you do not attend
the church very often, because part of the formula used to calculate our annual
Quota (now well over £7,000) is the number of people we have on the roll.
If you want to continue on the roll or add your name please ask Irene Ames for
an enrolment form as soon as possible. Please don’t be put off by the
above comments!
