NEW  INITIATIVES FROM BAWDESWELL CHURCH

Striving to serve the local community better…

DO YOU -

SUPPORT THE CHURCH BUT DON’T COME TO THE SERVICES?

HAVE –

TOO MANY OTHER THINGS TO DO ON A SUNDAY.

NEED A LONG LIE ONCE IN A WEEK.

DON’T WANT TO COMMIT YOURSELF.

DON’T LIKE  THE  DOGMA IN THE SERVICES.

FEEL EMBARASSED IF YOU RARELY SHOW UP.

We are introducing a completely new kind of service at 6pm once a month, on the 2nd  Sunday of each month – but  Sunday  20th  October to get us started.

It has a starting title Word & Praise and will be very straightforward – thanks, prayers for the world, our families and our friends – and some cheerful and tuneful hymns.  There will be no activities and no preaching, keeping the length down to under an hour.  It is hoped it will appeal to a wide age group.

SALVE YOUR CONSCIENCE AND TRY OUT THIS NEW SERVICE !
IT’S ONLY ONCE A MONTH, AND YOU DON’T HAVE TO COMMIT YOURSELF IN ANY WAY.  HONEST!

Friends of Bawdeswell Church
Plans are also afoot to form a Friends of Bawdeswell Church Group to help support the church in running fund-raising events each year towards its Fabric Fund.
It is hoped that this would enlist help from the number of well-wishers who are always very supportive but do not necessarily choose to attend our services regularly.
More details to follow at a later date.

FROM THE RECTOR

Dear Friends

God is watching!  Give Him a good show!

This will be the last time I scratch my head to find something to say in my letter to you that might just connect with the thoughts of our many readers.

I actually resign as Rector on the last day of September, having then completed 32 years in full-time parochial ministry - most of it in Norfolk.
My wife Jean and I will have completed just over six years here in the Rectory in Lyng, relating as best we may to the parishioners of the six villages that make up our United Benifice.
In fact my letter has appeared regularly in the Hill & Vale magazine for Lyng, Sparham, Elsing and Bylaugh, and usually at the same time in the Reeve's Tale that covers Bawdeswell & Foxley.

We are all moving through life on Single Tickets - no one has a Return - so we all just have one shot to make our lives something worth offering to our Father at the end of the day.
Most of us put off most decisions to 'more convenient times' - and so loose many God-given opportunities to make a difference for good in our little corner of life.

We want to thank you for the love and support shown to us - we have had the great privilege of touching a great number of personal lives, and we are grateful to our great living, loving and liberating Lord Jesus Christ.
Wherever you find yourself in today's intricate web - try to make every day count - in the many opportunities our Heavenly Father continues to grant us.

Yours very sincerely,

Alan Cunnington.
