We had a tremendous start to the new academic year with record results.  Of those attending Year 11 last year, 63% got 5 A* to Cs and above in their GCSEs. But even more importantly the average point score, which represents how every pupil did was our highest yet.  So well done to all of those pupils; we look forward to seeing them and their parents at Awards Evening on 30 October.

The new term started with a school of 790 pupils and nine new members of staff.  We are oversubscribed, so we are discussing building projects with the Local Education Authority.  Our Technology College Community work has now moved onto ICT.  So this year our ICT teachers and technicians are working with our catchment primary schools.

Many successful events have already taken place.  These include:
All of our new Year 7 pupils going on a geography field visit to Ranworth Broad.
A visit from our Austrian partner school as part of the Sea and Ski exchange.
A successful harvest festival with many donations of food and money for local good causes.
A science competition for Year 6s from some of our catchment primary schools
Spike Milligan poems in the library and a visit from local poet David Mason for National Poetry Day.
A languages day for Year 7 with pupils trying out lots of different languages.
Our sponsored walk which helps support the annual activities week.
A non-uniform day to raise money for the children we sponsor in India and Vietnam.
Open day and open evening for Year 6s pupils and their parents.
Year 11 Careers Day.

As ever we are grateful for the parents and members of the community who help and support these events.  There is just time to draw breath before we start the next half term and many more extra activities to add to the work of pupils and staff in the classroom.
